IN CHARACTER
Name: Fi
Canon: Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword
Canon Point: As she falls asleep at the end of the game
Age: ??? she appears to be 13/14

History: A Link between Wikis

Personality:
First impressions of Fi varies; the spirit can come off as mysterious, wise beyond the youthful appearance she was created with, or somewhat unsettling, what with the unblinking stare and her tendency to stand ramrod straight when idle. Notably, she appears youthful and feminine despite being anything but - as a spirit, Fi is ageless and genderless, though everyone in game refers to her as female and so those pronouns will be used when referring to Fi here.

Despite being a spirit and not actually mechanical save for the fact that her medium is metal, Fi has all the trappings of a rather primitive artificial intelligence. She appears to lack true form of emotion, often expressing her observations as just that; observations and probabilities. When attempting to convince the Hero, Link, to take up the Goddess Sword and begin his quest, she doesn't seem to understand Link's motivation on an emotional level citing instead when he steps forward that no other 'persuasive measures' need to be taken. Fi is to the point, chiding Link whenever he deviates from his path and always there to make sure he continues his quest in spite of all the distractions that get thrown his way.

She appears rather detached from the situation, focused as she is on the task given to her by the Goddess herself. The predicaments felt by the denizens of the Surface does not reach Fi on an emotional level. When Gaepora mentions the old legend regarding the Goddess Sword, Fi does not hesitate to correct him while also commenting on how inefficient the method of oral tradition is when it comes to passing down legends. There's no hemming and hawing about people's feelings - Fi is laser focused on getting things done and seeing Link through to the end of his journey. Focused as she is on the big picture and lacking in emotion, Fi fails to appreciate the feelings of the people around her and the reasons why Link might want to help people, other than helping them get through whatever obstacle that currently stands in their way. In fact, when one robot becomes enamoured with her, Fi states that she does not understand why said robot wants her approval. Hyrule Warriors pushes this further and almost all her lines used in gameplay is delivered as if she is uncertain what emotions she is actually feeling (if she is truly feeling anything at all).

The way she talks in Hyrule Warriors is likely an extrapolation of the last scene with her in Skyward Sword. While her personality remains largely static and directive focused for the entire game, the acts of kindness she witnesses does not leave her unmoved. She admits herself that she initially saw her journey with Link that the Goddess tasked her with to be nothing more than her duty. It's obvious in how she applies herself to finding the fastest and most efficient way to assist Link through Faron Woods (And her exasperation should you choose to constantly reply to all her questions with the joke/off topic response). Over time though, she goes from viewing her time with Link as being part of her duty to being something more; in her words, it is the most precious data she's collected. She lightens up as time goes on, replying to Link with a little more fondness and less likely to simply brush off the side quests he tends to find himself on.

While she tends to be distant, she's far from disrespectful. Compared with Navi or even Midna, Fi is incredibly proper, recognizing important figures that inhabit the surface and never actively insulting people. Though there are times that her observations of some of the enemies comes off as a little passive aggressive, such as her comments with regards to Bokoblin 'fashion'. While most inhabitants of Skyloft and the Surface do not register are figures of authority to her, she is mostly polite to them and keeps more 'amusing' comments between herself and Link. For those few individuals she does respect or see as someone to be cautious of, she is careful to refer to them as such. 'Honorable Zelda' is one of the most notable cases (because she didn't always respect Link, though she acknowledges him as her Master).

Abilities/Skills:
♦ Telepathy (this ability works with both organic and inorganic creatures, providing Fi has personally met them)
♦ Telekinesis (since she has no hands, y'see?)
♦ Dancing/Singing
♦ Combat (her dancing is included in this, coupled with her being a sword)
♦ a veritable Wikipedia of Zelda universe knowledge, plus unlimited memory space
Master, your batteries are running low Requires no external energy input (air, food, etc.)

Strengths/Weaknesses: Fi is, first and foremost, a servant of the Goddess. Following that, she is the Hero's Guide and the Blade of Evil's Bane.

In so many words, she's a loyal sword who sometimes won't shut up about the little details.

Crafted to be incredibly wise and knowledgeable in the workings of Skyloft and the Surface as well as possessing perfect memory, Fi is both an incredible guide and a very helpful source of information and battle strategies when it comes to the monsters and inhabitants of the world. Completely logic and statistics based, she comes off as a bit cold (and insanely unsettling) but does make attempts to be thoughtful if only for the single minded goal of assisting the Hero in achieving his Grand Destiny™. In Hyrule Warriors, Fi is shown fighting on her own, using what can be equated to ice dancing; spinning and whirling through the battlefield in a beautiful display of deadly grace.

She's also shown to use telepathy to speak with both Link and another Ancient Robot, Scrapper, as well as telekinesis such as when she uses items in Hyrule Warriors or otherwise rarely manipulates items in Skyward Sword. Most notably, she floats everywhere.

However, some of her abilities - dowsing in particular - are dependant on her Master being present. As the Master Sword - and thus, Fi - has only recognized one master through the ages, it stands to reason that without Link, she can neither utilize her ability to dowse for treasures, items or people nor can she send out Skyward Strikes or the 'lasers' that a powered up Master Sword is very well known for.

She also has a difficult time empathizing with people, having no actual 'emotions' herself. This is fixed a little by the end of the game, but she remains ever analytical and stoic. Something that factors into her tendency to go on and on about very obvious facts should Link choose to ignore her; whether his health or the battery in the Wiimote is low, she will let you know. Fi also has the habit of disregarding people's feelings in favour of stating facts, which might come off as insulting if the inhabitants of the world weren't so dedicated to the Goddess and thus willing to brush off Fi's own eccentricities.

Also accidental creepiness due to a) the lack of pupils and the need to blink , b) an ultra disturbing singing animation Nintendo why and c) occasionally deciding that moving individual limbs is superfluous when she can just float like a plank over someone's head.

Items: Fi has no items on her spirit, save for the fact that she is a sword and the sword remains her 'true form'. If permitted, she will arrive in the form of the True Master Sword. If not, she will revert to the Goddess White Sword variant. For reference; here. The True Master Sword is the rightmost one, the Goddess White Sword is found in the middle.

[the voice that rings out over the MID's network resonates; there's a strange quality to it though it clearly sounds like a young girl]

I have been informed by the individuals in command that we are aboard a vessel named the Moira. That we are travelling across realms seeking it's point of origin so we may all return to our rightful worlds. I am... Uncertain of this course of action. Based on what we know, I cannot even calculate our probability of success.

Nonetheless.

The task assigned to me by Her Grace has been completed. The Ingress has deemed my presence necessary in some manner and so I will offer my assistance to the crew aboard this vessel whenever possible.

The name that my creator granted me is 'Fi'.

Though there is much I do not recognize, please do not hesitate to summon me should my assistance be required.
